Make New Crayons

A good way to use up those broken pieces of crayons is to melt them down and reuse them! I decided to melt Z's last night in my mini cupcake tin. First you need to gather all the crayons and take off the wrappers....Which by the way takes FOREVER. It's nice to have the little one help with that chore! Then arrange them in the tin however you would like. Pop them in the oven at 300 degrees and let them melt away! I left them in there for about 6 minutes. Just make sure you check them because they melt quick! After they cooled I put them in the freezer for 5 minutes then the just popped right out of the tins! Wah-la! New crayons! So easy!

The best cookies ever!

Yesterday Z and I made the best cookies ever! Oatmeal chocolate chip!! mmm.... so chewy and delish! If I could only choose one cookie to eat forever I think this one maybe it!
Here is the recipe from Allrecipes


  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips


  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Mix in the quick oats, walnuts, and chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake for 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Now, I've read a lot of the reviews and choose to add 1/2 cup more flour and only 1/2 teaspoon of salt and a bit less baking soda. I dislike salty and am a strong preacher for less or NO sodium!! And I did not add the walnuts. I only cooked for 10 minutes. They turned out wonderful and the hubby couldn't rave enough about them!

Crate Inspiration

Let's talk crates... I really like wooden crates! Especially the vintage/antique-y kind! I'm not to particular on the size of them. A really sweet deal!

This past weekend Z and I put together her Valentine's day cards for her class. Last year during the after V-day sales there was this cute little mail box with princess valentines inside. My mom picked it up for Z. This year we are using them. Thanks mom!
To jazz them up a bit I decided to put get a hole puncher and add holes in the middle of each one so we could add a heart shaped lolli to each one! So easy and makes them just that much more sweet!!
